Crikey, Seattle techdorks will be all over this, as it mixes EV flamboyance with outdoors cosplay.

We’ve finally found something to replace Subarus.

It’s like a Tesla/Subaru/Tacoma-4Runner hybrid. With those 3, one can meet about 85 % of PNW vehicle stereotypes. I imagine it being a hit with reasonably successful relaxed looking but strangely uptight 30-something couples with furbabies or devilspawn or both.

How many will buy the stove thing and never use it?

Probably similar usage rates to roof racks on Subarus.

That’s an interesting idea, and eager to see if they catch on. Still, a shame they got a blind person to design it ...

Oh that’s kind of clever —
[sees pull out serving station]
Ohhhhh it’s an affluent tailgater’s dream...
[sees Land Rover look-alike thingie]
They know their audience.

*Raises hand*
I’m right here , although older and in the southeast, with furbaby option, no devilspawn. Yes, I’m very interested in the Rivian for some point in the future. Likely about to buy an outdoors cosplay vehicle for camping excursions. However, if the F150 EV is well done, I’d go there as I don’t need the flamboyance, so I may be a bit further from the stereotype you describe.
The biggest issue with the Rivian in my mind (after range concerns for something going to the wildersness) is whether it is TOO big for some forest roads. But that doesn’t seem to slow down some of the rigs that I see out there.

Sounds like you’d fit in around the Seattle area. Bonus points if you buy a mcmodern house/townhouse via overleveraging and parental assistance. Lots of stickers proclaiming every hobby and vacation spot also add a little something.
With all of these startup companies, I also worry about build quality, although I know some customers are less picky than others.

I think it looks classic and futuristic and both are good for an electric pickup/SUV

Ha! No, we don’t match with the housing or stickers stereotypes.
Yes, several people have been surprised that I’m not a huge Tesla fan, but I am picky about build quality, and I don’t love the interior design aesthetic and lack of buttons. In fact, my biggest hesitation about buying a 2020 Subaru Forester is that the HVAC controls are in the touchscreen. I wish they weren’t.

I hope the SUV will have a tailgate seating area like a Rolls with wine bottle storage of coarse

I can relate, I don’t like screen based controls either. Fortunately, my MB predates MBUX and controls are conventional. I like screens and tech, but some things should be the old fashioned way.
I respect Tesla for the innovation, but the aesthetic and materials scare me away, not to mention the dorks with personalized plates.

Those openings behind the passenger doors; can those be used as seats? It kinda looks like padding on the two flaps. I wonder what the weight capacity is for those. Or, if the truck will tell you if those are open or not. I can see many forgetful people riding off with those flaps down like mini wings.

We can agree to disagree. I’ll have to keep an eye out for one here - it would be a good vehicle for an NYC business.
